We're currently undergoing a bit of a redesign, hence why everything's so sparse. Check back in a few weeks to see the leaps and bounds we've made!

    Volume Three

Submissions for Volume Three are open until the Friday 16th March 2012; however, if you want feedback on your work, you’ll have to get it to us by Friday 24th February.

Anyone studying at York - undergraduate or postgraduate - can submit their work. Guidelines on what to submit and how best to improve your chances are below. However, our most important point is that we only accept fictional material - although it’s okay if it’s ambiguous, non-specific autobiography (a strongly veiled poem about something in your life will likely be acceptable).

    • Word counts: 2,000 for drama, 3,000 for fiction. If you’re writing long poetry, a limit of 1,500 applies. Sorry, but poems take up a stupid amount of space.
    • Try to keep your formatting simple. Everything you add will be re-appropriated by us, so if you’re using tables to format your screenplay we’ll have to go through the painstaking process of cutting and pasting from every single cell.
    • Don’t use uneditable formats for your submissions. This means PDFs, by and large - if in doubt, submit a Microsoft Word document or rich text.
    • Be clever with your timing. We’ll have more time for you in the first term than the second. If you want detailed feedback on your piece - as well as a proper discussion of your work in a group scenario, rather than a series of people ticking boxes and writing comments - then send it early on.
    • Finally, use your York email address. If you’re not a student, you can’t submit. Sorry, but they’re the rules. We won’t automatically exclude you if you use a different address, but we will want further verification.

    Good luck!

    Volume Four

Submissions for Volume Four will open during Week 1 of the 2012/13 academic year.
